What's Included

What does an SEO
strategy cover?

🔎

SEO Audit & Baseline

Every strategy starts with understanding where you are. I conduct a full-spectrum assessment of your current organic performance, covering technical health, content quality, backlink profile, and competitive positioning.

  • Technical SEO health assessment
  • Content quality and gap analysis
  • Backlink profile evaluation
  • Competitive benchmarking
  • Opportunity sizing and prioritisation
🎯

Keyword Research & Mapping

Going beyond search volumes to understand intent, commercial value, and competitive feasibility. Every keyword gets mapped to the right URL with a clear content brief and ranking strategy.

  • Intent-based keyword clustering
  • Commercial value analysis
  • URL-to-keyword mapping
  • Cannibalisation identification
  • SERP feature opportunity mapping

Content Strategy

A structured plan for building topical authority. I use intent-based content silos rather than generic hub-and-spoke models, mapping every piece of content to a commercial objective and ensuring nothing cannibalises existing rankings.

  • Intent-based content architecture
  • Topic silo mapping
  • Editorial calendar with priorities
  • Content brief templates
  • Internal linking strategy
🔗

Link Building Framework

A sustainable approach to earning quality backlinks. I plan anchor text distribution, identify outreach targets, and develop linkable asset concepts, so your link profile builds authority without triggering algorithmic filters.

  • Backlink gap analysis
  • Outreach framework development
  • Digital PR angle identification
  • Linkable asset planning
  • Semantic anchor text strategy
📈

Measurement & KPIs

Clear metrics tied to your business objectives, not vanity numbers. I define what success looks like upfront and build the tracking infrastructure to measure it accurately.

  • KPI framework aligned to business goals
  • Custom dashboard setup
  • Monthly performance reporting
  • Conversion tracking integration
  • Quarterly strategy reviews
Why Work With Me

What makes this
different?

Strategies That Get Executed

A strategy document gathering dust on a shared drive helps nobody. I build plans that account for your team's capacity, your budget, and your technical constraints. Every recommendation is realistic to implement, and I can execute it directly on a retainer basis if you need hands-on support.

Commercial Thinking First

I don't chase rankings for their own sake. Every strategic decision connects to revenue, lead generation, or market share. If a recommendation doesn't have a clear commercial rationale, it doesn't make the plan. Gut feelings are useful for choosing lunch; marketing budget decisions need data.

Honest About Timelines

SEO compounds over time, and anyone promising page one rankings in thirty days is cutting corners. I set realistic expectations during our first conversation and build strategies around sustainable, long-term growth. You'll know what to expect and when, with honest reporting throughout.

How It Works

How does an SEO strategy
engagement work?

01

Discovery & Research

I learn your business inside out: revenue model, competitive landscape, capacity for change, and what success actually means for you. This phase includes a thorough audit of your current organic performance and a competitive analysis of your market.

02

Strategy Development

Research findings become a prioritised roadmap. Keyword targets, content architecture, technical fixes, and link building tactics, all sequenced by impact and mapped to your available resources.

03

Execution

I either implement the strategy directly or work alongside your team to ensure every recommendation gets actioned properly. Clear briefs, detailed specifications, and regular check-ins keep everything on track.

04

Review & Refine

Monthly reporting against agreed KPIs, quarterly strategy reviews, and continuous refinement based on real performance data. The best strategies evolve as results come in; rigidity is the enemy of growth.

Common Questions

SEO strategy
questions answered.

An SEO audit tells you what's wrong. A strategy tells you what to do about it, and in what order. The audit is a diagnostic tool; the strategy is the treatment plan. It takes audit findings, combines them with keyword research, competitive analysis, and your commercial goals, then produces a prioritised roadmap showing exactly what to execute, when, and why. Most businesses need both, and I typically start with an audit that feeds directly into the strategy.

The research and audit phase typically takes two to three weeks, depending on your site's size and complexity. Strategy development takes another one to two weeks after that. Rushing the research phase leads to shallow strategies that miss opportunities, so I'd rather take the time to get it right. You'll receive a complete, prioritised roadmap with clear milestones, timelines, and expected outcomes for each recommendation.

A complete SEO strategy covers five areas: a technical SEO roadmap prioritised by business impact, keyword research mapped to commercial intent, a content plan with topic clusters and editorial calendar, a link building framework with outreach approaches and anchor text strategy, and a measurement plan with KPIs tied to your business objectives. Each area includes specific, actionable recommendations rather than vague guidance.

Both options are available. Some clients need a comprehensive strategy document to hand to their in-house team or existing agency. Others prefer me to execute the strategy directly on a monthly retainer. If you're weighing up who should handle execution, my freelancer vs agency comparison covers the trade-offs. Most start with the strategy, then move into execution once they've seen the roadmap and understand the scope. I'm equally comfortable delivering a standalone plan or rolling up my sleeves and implementing it.

Strategy projects are priced based on the scope and complexity of your site, your competitive landscape, and the depth of research required. I'm always transparent about costs during our initial conversation, and I'll never recommend more scope than you actually need. If you're still working out what to look for, my guide on how to hire an SEO consultant covers the questions worth asking before you commit. For ongoing strategy and execution, I work on monthly retainers with no lock-in contracts, because I'd rather earn your continued trust than rely on a binding agreement.
